This book blew my mind. I went in with relatively low expectations. Most big name books don’t necessarily do it for me. I just wanted to see what all the hype was about.
The first chapter sucked me in. I do love an enemies to lovers trope, but it wasn’t the romance that got me. It was the world. The dragons. The snark. The heart palpitations it gave me.
I’m a sucker for a book that breaks my heart. This made me fall in love with characters to shatter my soul. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment or something.
Now, if you want me to ruin the book for you, I could do that. I could give you details that would spoil the plot, but I won’t. What I will say is that the plot was fresh, the characters were intriguing, and the love story was actually pretty good.
I loved that Violet had what I’m assuming was EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.) Way to represent. Yarros didn’t show the main character as weak. Instead, she showed her as determined to succeed. Big points from me there.
I give this book a 5/5 star!
